A Comparative Study On The Effect Of Video Modeling And Picture Tip On Working Skills Intervention For Adolescents With Autism

The current employment status of people with autism is not optimistic.The full employment of autistic people can help them to support themselves and make them better integrate into the society.The acquisition of working skills is one of the necessary conditions for autistic spectrum disorder people to go to successful employment.In this study,"hand grinding coffee" was used to train the working skills of autistic adolescents.This study adopted the alternate processing experimental designed in the single-subject research design to compare the effect of video modeling and picture tip methods on the working skills of autistic adolescents.The subjects of the study were three autistic adolescents aged 10-20.The independent variable were the video modeling and picture tip methods,and the dependent variable was the acquisition effect of the "hand-grinding coffee" working skills."Hand-grinding coffee" working skills include 20 small steps in four parts: "grinding coffee beans","coffee extraction","milk frothing" and "preparation".The experimental procedure included four stages:baseline period,alternate treatment period,optimal treatment period and maintenance period.The research results showed that both video modeling and picture tip methods can improve the working skills of "hand-grinding coffee" for autistic teenagers;the intervention effect of the picture tip method was better than that of the video modeling method;The picture tip method had a good maintenance effect on the acquisition of work skills of autistic adolescents;Both of these methods had good social validity.Based on the above research results,it is recommended to choose video modeling and picture tip as intervention methods in the working skills training for people with autism spectrum disorder.Picture tip method should be given preference to training the working skills of people with autism spectrum disorders.
