| In the era of economic globalization, the advantages of economic competition have shifted from factors and investment to innovation.Innovation has become an important driving force for economic development. At present,China’s ability to seize the opportunities brought by the world’s unprecedented changes depends largely on its ability to innovate. Therefore, the innovation activities of micro-enterprises are a key component. As an important unit of regional economic activities, urban agglomerations play a role in leading the country’s innovation and development. As an important unit of regional economic activities, urban agglomerations play an important leading role in national innovation and development.Urban agglomerations are the main regional unit of the country’s participation in global competition and international division of labor. This paper deeply explores the impact of the construction of national-level urban agglomerations on enterprise innovation activities, which helps to deepen the in terpretation of the planning effects of national-level urban agglomerations and the micro-enterprises innovation motivations.Besides, this paper provides a reference for governments to further use the construction of urban agglomerations to promote the gr owth of the real economy, promote regional development and enterprise innovation. This paper discusses corporate innovation activities within the scope of urban agglomerations and focuses on the impact of intra-regional economic agglomeration across administrative divisions on enterprise innovation.Taking China’s listed companies from 2007 to 2019 as a sample, this paper uses the quasi-natural experiment of the construction of national-level urban agglomerations to construct a PSM-DID model. This paper uses the model to explore the impact of macro policies on micro-enterprises innovation activities and further analyzes its mechanism. The model in this paper solves the problem of sample selection bias and endogeneity, which ensures the credibility of the model estimation results and provides reliable conclusions for this paper.Furthermore, this paper uses GRD to examine the impact of the construction of inland and coastal urban agglomerations on the innovation activities of listed companies. This paper not only enriches the literature research on the policy effects of urban agglomeration construction based on the micro perspective but also meets the requirements of seeking a new trend of high-quality economic development in the new era and keeps pace with the times. The empirical results show that:(1)Whether in terms of the level of innovation input and efficiency or the quality of innovation output, the construction of national-level urban agglomerations has a significant role in promoting the innovation activities of listed companies.(2)As far as the construction of urban agglomerations in the three major economic belts is concerned, this conclusion is still valid. But the construction of urban agglomerations in different regions has significantly differe nt promotion effects on enterprise innovation.(3)Based on the analysis of the mechanism research,it is found that "government subsidies","higher education resources" and "regional coordination" are important transmission mechanisms for the construction of national-level urban agglomerations to influence enterprise innovation.(4)Based on the boundaries of urban agglomerations, the construction of inland urban agglomerations and coastal urban agglomerations has significantly promoted the innovation output level of listed companies. |
