Purpose: This study uses a longitudinal tracking method to conduct a three-year follow-up study on adolescents to explore the general trend of adolescents’ life satisfaction during the three years of junior high school and their relationship with demographic variables such as parent-child communication, gender, and family location, and help adolescents improve Quality of life, improve the quality of mental health, and pass adolescence smoothly. Methods: This study used the "Student Life Satisfaction Scale" and "Parent-Child Communication Scale(Revised in China)" to track 1,134first-year students in Huaihua and Shaoshan,Hunan Province for a period of three years. The first data collection will be conducted in December2018(T1),the second data collection will be conducted in October 2019(T2),and the third data collection will be conducted in October 2020(T3).Results:(1)Repeated measures analysis of variance showed that within three years, there were significant grade differences in adolescents’ life satisfaction and parent-child communication, showing a downward trend.(2)Correlation analysis shows that there is a significant positive correlation between parent-child communication and life satisfaction at T1,T2,and T3.(3)The multi-layer linear model shows that there are significant inter-individual differences in the initial level(T1)of adolescents’ life satisfaction and the decline rate during the three-year period.(4)The multi-layer linear model shows that gender and family location have no significant influence on the intercept and slope of adolescents’ life satisfaction;father-son communication and mother-child communication can significantly and positively predict the level of adolescent’s life satisfaction, and at the same time have an impact on adolescents’ life satisfaction during the three-year period. The rate of decline in satisfaction has a significant negative predictive effect.Among them, the influence of mother-child communication is slightly greater than that of father-child communication. Conclusion: Adolescents’ life satisfaction showed a linear downward trend within three years, and parent-child communication can significantly slow down the decline in adolescents’ life satisfaction.
