As an important force to promote the modernization of social governance in the future, the number of part-time masters in social work(MSW)has shown a rapid increase in the past few years. However, the existing professional identity studies have not yet fully discussed this particular group. What is the status quo of professional identity of part-time MSW?What is the internal relationship between the part-time MSW’s attitude towards internships, the amount of work it undertakes, and its attitude towards social workers’ remuneration and benefits, and their professional identity? This article attempts to use survey cross-sectional data and multiple linear regression analysis to discuss the above issues. To answer this question, this article mainly conducts the following three aspects of research: firstly, from the perspective of social identity theory, this article analyzes the logical relationship between internship attitudes, work tasks, social remuneration and professional identity based on qualitative data from 8 part-time MSW interviews.Secondly, based on previous mainstream research, this paper subdivides social work professional identity into four dimensions, including cognitive, emotional, behavioral, appropriate, and selects five universities in Shanghai and Nanjing that have recruited part-time MSW for many years.Carry out sampling survey and collect 127 valid samples.Thirdly, based on the cross-sectional data of the survey, the independent sample t-test is used to analyze the differences between the demographic characteristics of the interviewed samples and the mean of professional identity. And on this basis, this article further uses a multiple linear regression model to test the causal relationship between internship attitude, job tasks, social worker salary and professional identity and their four specific dimensions. The study found that:(1)Part-time MSW professional identity is generally low,and the four dimensions are ranked in order of cognitive, emotional, appropriate and behavioral. And there are different degrees of differences between groups in the four demographic characteristics of school level, enrollment willingness, undergraduate and master’s major, and city of residence.(2)The results show that while keeping other conditions different,part-time MSW’s attitude towards professional internships and social workers’ salary increases by 1 unit, their professional identity will increase by 0.10,and for every additional unit of work tasks, its professional identity will decrease by 0.12.(3)The cognitive dimension of part-time MSW professional identity is mainly affected by internship attitude and work tasks, behavioral and appropriate dimension are mainly affected by social worker’s salary, and emotional dimension is affected by three factors at the same time.Based on the above conclusions, focusing on the issue of improving the professional identity of part-time MSW,six policy recommendations are put forward from the three levels of individual, school and society.
