Research On China’s First Master Of Social Work Graduate’s Professional Identity

During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, China will be implemented in six personnel capacity building talent from overseas engineering training programs, including social work professionals leaving the country (territory), which is another effective measure since the government have approved58universities to set up Master of Social Work education. For the construction of a grand social work personnel team, build a reasonable structure, excellent quality of social work personnel has very practical significance. The state support is a great driving force of China’s social work development, the first social work profession graduate students will be graduating in June2012, the study of their professional identity of the professional master of social work has significant reality for the assessment the education of social work.Known from previous literature studies, social work students’ professional identity is not high generally, the interest is the first factor of the professional identity, moreover,social work education, professional practice effect, recognized by society, other factors as national and recognized by the community also affect the professional recognition. However, the research on the professional identity of social work students is little, the data is few and scattered. Therefore, the professional identity of the study of the first master of social work profession have a great deal of theoretical and practical significance to rich the professional identity, and promote the process of our country indigenization of social work.This paper reference to a survey done by the experts and scholars, self study questionnaire on the professional identity of the first social work professional Master, and the collected data is analyzed by SPSS in this study, persistent behavior three aspects on the master of social work professional identity status and on the basis of the influence of professional identity the influence factors, and put forward9research hypotheses. There are5hypotheses through the inspection, so as to draw the following conclusions:First, after systematic social work master education, the master of the social work profession will have higher degree of professional identity.Second, the professional identity of the master of social work profession affected by personal factors, school professional education, social acceptance and other factors. Among them, the attitude towards learning is the first factor of the professional identity,and the practice effect of the social work profession and social recognition is a direct impact on the professional identity of the students. Therefore, the promotion of professional students learning attitude change, enhance social work practice, strengthen the propaganda of social work has become the key to improve the professional identity.This paper put forward following four measures in order to enhance the professional identity of social work:Firstly, strengthen the curriculum reform, and enhance students’ professional interests. Pay attention to local social work resources, inviting professionals who have been long engaged in social welfare to the school to lecture. Linked to the professional curriculum and the social work professional qualification certification exams, encourage students to get a Social Work professional qualification certificates during the school.Secondly, strengthen the cooperation of various universities and social work professional organization, and perfect the social work professional training system. Try to establish a professional master training mode of social work called "university and social work agencies and student".Thirdly, make use of various media to strengthen the propaganda of social work and to improve the professional social popularity. Widely develop all kinds of social work thematic academic exchanges, using the media of radio, television, newspapers, internet and other advanced touching stories of the social work profession, professional practice and social workers should be extensive publicized.Fourth, the state should continue to increase attention and continued investment in the social work profession, social work would be a new sunrise education industry.
