Research On Vocational Education And Training Of Family Farmers In Jiangsu,China

As a new type of agricultural business,the family farms in Jiangsu Province have developed well and high quality.The family farmer is the main leader of the family farm.The connotation of family farmer belongs to the category of new professional farmers.Responding to the Party Central Committee’s No.1 document,including " vigorously cultivating emerging professional farmers "(2012)," increasing technical training for professional large households and family farm operators "(2013)," strengthening agricultural vocational education And training "(2015),etc.,the provincial government has actively launched the vocational education and training work for family farmers.These education and training activities have played an important role in promoting the development of modern agriculture in Jiangsu Province.This paper focuses on the needs of family farmers for vocational education and training,analyzes their current situation,studies their shortcomings,and puts forward corresponding suggestions.Firstly,this study introduces the background and significance of topic selection,the current status of research at home and abroad,and literature reviews,research purposes and research content.Secondly,the conception,link and comparison among related concepts of family farms and vocational education and training are carried out.Thirdly,the application status of family famer vocational education and training in Jiangsu is analyzed.Subsequently,a questionnaire survey is conducted around the farmers’ needs for vocational education and training.Finally,suggestions are provided on how to promote the development of vocational education and training for family farmers in Jiangsu Province.The research shows that department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Jiangsu Province(formerly Jiangsu Agricultural Committee)has implemented a number of policies to encourage family farmer vocational education and training,while providing intellectual support and talent support since 2013.The education and training had certain effect,however,the effect on education and training remain to be strengthened.At present,the vocational education and training of family farmers in Jiangsu Province has problems in four aspects:the main body of education and training is weak and enthusiastic;the form of education and training is single and lacks attractiveness;the content of education and training is not completely consistent with farmers’ demand;the support target is not specific enough and comprehensive,and the support needs to be strengthened.The result of the study shows that farmers have significant needs in terms of training duration,training locations,trainers,training types,training formats,training content and Academic education.Finally,the paper put forwards some suggestions for future development:first of all is to strengthen the youth group of the training team and increase their enthusiasm;Secondly,the organizers should improve the diversity of education and training forms,and strengthen innovation;thirdly is to improve the timeliness of education and training content,promoting the symmetrical supply and demand;last of all,give more policy supports for farmers..
