Objective:(1)To investigate the status of self-efficacy,mental toughness and social adaptability of nursing students;To analyze the effects of general demographic characteristics on self-efficacy,mental toughness and social adaptability of nursing students.(2)To analyze the relationship among self-efficacy,mental toughness and social adaptability,and further explore whether there is a mediating effect between self-efficacy and social adaptability.Methods: 694 nursing students from a health vocational college in Huizhou were selected as the research objects.Self-efficacy scale,mental toughness scale and social adaptability diagnostic scale were used for questionnaire survey.SPSS20.0 was used for data analysis and processing.Result:(1)Mental toughness of nursing students was significantly different in gender variables,while the difference in self-efficacy and social adaptability was not significant in gender variables.(2)Mental toughness and social adaptability of nursing students have significant differences in whether or not the only child variable,and the score of non-only children is significantly higher than that of the only child,while the self-efficacy has no significant difference in whether or not the only child variable.(3)There were significant differences in mental toughness and social adaptability in class or student union,and the scores of students who held posts were significantly higher than those who did not hold posts,while the differences in self-efficacy were not significant in class or student union.(4)There are significant differences on the variable of family relationship among the self-efficacy,mental toughness and social adaptability.After verification,the students of closely family relationship scored obviously higher than the ones which is moderate and distant,and the moderates ones are scored higher than the distant ones.(5)Mental toughness and social adaptability of nursing students have significant differences in the variables of family economic conditions.After testing,we can found that the toughness in good economic family is obviously higher than the ones in ordinary and poor.The students of ordinary family economy is much higher than the students whose families are poor economy.Furthermore,the social adaptability of the students in poor economy is inferior to the those with good and ordinary ones.Finally,the self-efficacy of nursing students shows no significant difference in the variables of family economic status.(6)There are significant positive correlation between the self-efficacy,mental toughness and social adaptability.(7)Mental toughness of nursing students plays a complete mediating role between self-efficacy and social adaptability,that is,self-efficacy promotes their social adaptability through mental toughness.From the perspective of the each dimension of mental toughness,social communication ability,friend support,self-worth,and self-acceptance play a mediating role between self-efficacy and social adaptability.However,family support,optimistic and tolerant attitude,self-acceptance and self-mastery have no significant mediating effect between self-efficacy and social adaptability.Conclusion:(1)The differences in demographic variables would affect the self-efficacy,mental toughness and social adaptability of nursing students.(2)Self-efficacy,mental toughness and social adaptability are correlated.(3)Mental toughness of nursing students plays a complete mediating role between self-efficacy and social adaptability,that is,self-efficacy plays a promoting role in social adaptability through mental toughness.Mental toughness of nursing students is an important factor affecting their social adaptation,which can be emphasized on the cultivation of social communication ability,friend support,self-worth and self-adjustment. |
