In the aging society, with the decline of the social value of the elderly, the problem of the stigmatization of the media image of the elderly is gradually prominent, which is quite different from the traditional image of the elderly, which represents experience, wisdom and authority. The opposition between tradition and modern has begun as early as modern times. In the modern literary imagination, the elderly are often associated with the decadent and backward feudal system, while in the historical dimension, the media image is different The image of the elderly in the body is not clear.Taking the news about the elderly in Ta Kung Pao(1926-1949),which is famous for its authenticity and objectivity,as the research text, the author explores the characteristics and causes of the image of the elderly in the complex social environment and in the process of the change of media position,in order to enrich the research of the elderly group and link the history and reality of the media image of the elderly. The study found that the proportion of the elderly reported in Ta Kung Pao was very low, most of them were 60 years old. From 1927 to 1949,the media image of the elderly changed, showing different image characteristics in four periods. From September 1926 to August 1937,the elderly group was mostly male, most of them were vulnerable groups, there was a gap between the rich and the poor, the physical condition was unbalanced, positive and negative images coexisted, and the survival was difficult From September 1937 to December 1945,the gender ratio of the elderly group was balanced, and most of them were dominant groups. They were in good economic and physical conditions, and their positive images were prominent. They focused on depicting the image of the elderly people who were well-informed during the Anti Japanese war From January,1949 to April,1949,the elderly group reported slightly more women than men.In addition, the economic and physical conditions of the elderly returned to the first stage.During this period, the elderly group had the new characteristics of fighting, patriotism and dedication under multiple oppression. From May 1949 to December1949,the majority of the elderly were men, most of them were vulnerable groups, there was a gap between the rich and the poor, the positive image was highlighted again, the physical condition was good, but the accidental casualties were frequent, the image characteristics of the elderly took on a new look, along with Ta Kung Pao.In general, the elderly are not the focus of media attention.Ta Kung Pao mainly focuses on the elderly at the bottom, with its positive image. In the four stages, the elderly live in hardship and their social status declines. However, the traditional culture of respecting and respecting the elderly still affects the way people treat the elderly,The influence of traditional culture gives way to the real construction of social reality.Social reality is the basis of the media image of the elderly, and the media is related to the political concern of the elderly, and even determines the image characteristics of the elderly according to their own position and needs in special periods.
