As an important part of the overseas consumption of education service trade,the service of studying abroad is of great significance in serving the country’s major political,economic and talent strategies,and it is an important manifestation of a country’s openness and tolerance.Receiving foreign students studying abroad is an important means of mutual learning among civilizations,absorbing human capital,creating foreign exchange,and stimulating investment and consumption.Based on the panel data of 85 countries from 2003 to 2018,this paper uses the trade gravity model to explore the impact of cultural distance on the education service trade of overseas students in China from a cultural perspective.The empirical results show that there is a significant negative relationship between cultural distance and the scale of international students in China.Distinguishing the types of students found that cultural distance has a greater negative impact on self-financed students than non-self-financed students,and cultural distance has a greater negative impact on degree students than non-degree students.Through the country heterogeneity test,it is found that cultural distance has a significant positive relationship with the scale of studying abroad in China along the “Belt and Road”;compared with developed countries,cultural distance in developing countries has a more negative effect on the scale of education service trade in China.Big.Further expansion of the model found that the number of Confucius Institutes in the country of origin significantly adjusted the negative impact of cultural distance on the education service trade of overseas students in China.The Confucius Institute has no significant effect on the cultural distance adjustment of the group of countries along the "Belt and Road",and has the strongest adjustment effect on the group of developing countries.The policy recommendations of this article are: in the process of promoting the education of studying in China,we should pay attention to the negative impact of cultural distance.By attaching importance to the guiding role of scholarships,developing academic education for foreign students in China,exploring the source of students from countries along the “Belt and Road”,and strengthening the cultural dissemination role of Confucius Institutes,reducing cultural distance hinders the trade in education services for studying in China,thereby helping The connotative development of the education of studying abroad in China promotes the improvement of the quality and efficiency of the service trade of studying abroad in China.
