As the geographic spatial convergence point of human civilization,cities gather all kinds of production factors and become an important carrier of national social and economic activities.Urban agglomeration is the product of urbanization development and has now become the basic regional unit of global economic competition.In the fierce competition,we should not only compete for all kinds of hard power,but also pay more attention to the competition of soft power.As an important part of the soft power of urban agglomeration,the image of urban agglomeration plays an increasingly important role.In addition,with the advent of the era of "everything is a medium",the virtual space presented by Internet technology and the original physical space of the city have become more and more interactive Spaces,thus exerting an influence on the whole urban space.However,at present,how virtual space and physical space affect the spread of urban agglomeration image,the degree of influence and the specific factors are all the answers that need to be explored.Therefore,from the perspective of spatial media,whether virtual space and physical space have an impact on the image communication power of urban agglomeration is the core issue of this study.According to the research problem,this study takes the third space theory of Lefebvre Sawyer as the theoretical basis,selects Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration as the research object,adopts the structural equation model and partial least squares estimation method to carry on the data analysis and the research hypothesis verification to the image communication power of urban agglomeration.Research hypothesis test results supported: virtual city image resources has a direct positive effect on urban agglomerations image propagation force,virtual city image to the real city image resources have a direct positive influence,entity city image resources has a direct positive effect on urban agglomerations image propagation force,entity city image of virtual city image resources have a direct positive influence.It also makes a positive contribution to the study of spatial media.The research shows that the image of a city under the background of new media is influenced by both virtual space and physical space factors,and the city is a spatial medium.The virtual space factor and the entity space factor in the city have mutual positive influence;Under the new background of urban space development,the image of virtual space and physical space should be developed in a coordinated way.The construction of city image should be considered from two clues: the construction of physical space and the construction of virtual space.Finally,on the basis of the research conclusions,this study puts forward the communication value of spatial medialization of urban agglomeration and specific suggestions to enhance the image communication power of Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration: virtual city to write spatial stories;Entity cities should strengthen the collective perception of urban agglomeration.To enhance the image of urban agglomeration,it is necessary to build a communicable city.This study also provides a response to the third space theory.
