Postgraduate education,as the top of the national education system,is the main way to cultivate high-level talents and release talent dividend,and an important pillar of national talent competition and scientific and technological competition.As the first responsible person for the quality of postgraduate training,postgraduate supervisors have arduous and inescapable responsibilities for the development of postgraduate education in China.While paying attention to the development of students,postgraduate education should not neglect the growth of postgraduate tutors.Against this background,this paper,based on the selection activity of "good mentor in my mind" in T university,takes the mentor who has won the honor of "top ten good mentors" as the research object,analyzes the characteristics of the mentor,and tries to deeply analyze the path of their growth from novice mentor to good mentor.The purpose of this study is to have a deep understanding of the growth path of good tutors and put forward some Suggestions to promote the growth of postgraduate tutors in China.Based on the review of the research literature on tutor quality and teacher growth path,this paper expounds the achievements and shortcomings of the existing research.By using the question-centered interview method,11 "top ten excellent tutors" of T university were finally selected as the research objects by means of targeted sampling.Qualitative analysis was made on the interview transcripts.First,NVivo 11 software was used to re-split and combine the interview transcripts,and its automatic coding and three-level manual coding functions were used to refine and analyze the elements of a good mentor’s growth path.Then,by reviewing the interview draft and adopting the case analysis method,various effective information points were revealed and explored,and the statements in the text were contextualized to restore their behaviors and psychological changes,so as to propose the stages and various paths for the growth of a good mentor.Finally,the paper summarizes the characteristics of growth path of "experience","control" and "coping" good tutors,and puts forward Suggestions for promoting the growth of postgraduate tutors.
