Environmental science literacy is not only a key indicator to measure the individual’s overall quality,but also an important cornerstone of the overall level of comprehensive literacy development.To a certain extent,environmental science literacy can also reflect the level of social and economic development.It’s the fundamental element of human social progress and is one of the core issues that the country needs to solve and the foundation of sustainable development.Since the 21 st century,environmental science literacy has become an essential and important basic literacy for individuals.Primary school students are the reserve army of the country’s human resources,the hope of the motherland and the future of the nation,the key stage of curiosity,the basic stage of the formation of environmental science literacy,and an important stage of interest in environmental science exploration.Therefore,it is especially important to cultivate students’ environmental science literacy in primary school.At present,countries all over the world pay special attention to the cultivation of environmental science literacy of primary school students.In Chinese new curriculum reform,as an independent discipline,the science curriculum,a "battle" is being developed to foster the transformation of primary school students’ scientific literacy.As a part of scientific literacy,environmental science literacy has important theoretical and practical significance to explore the current environmental science literacy education for primary school students.We closely follow the educational problems of primary school students’ environmental science literacy,consult a large amount of literature materials,expounds the concept,constituent elements and performance characteristics of environmental science literacy from different angles,and systematically comb and summarize relevant theories.Based on the research methods of questionnaires and the four elements of environmental science literacy,this paper conducts a questionnaire survey on the status quo of environmental science literacy education of seven elementary school students in F district of Quanzhou City,and analyzes and summarizes the current F area.The problems and main causes of environmental science literacy education in primary schools,and based on the survey results,propose improved strategies.Finally,this thesis selects two parallel classes for environmental science literacy education practice and evaluates the implementation effect of the proposed improvement strategy.Through the three-month practice tracking,based on the statistical analysis of the questionnaire survey and the academic scores of the science courses,the results show that the environmental science literacy test level of the experimental group students is generally on the rise,and the scores of the control group are significantly different;Evaluation feedback shows that most of the students are more interested in this educational practice,and teachers and students are more aware of the effect of this educational practice.These results show that the improvement measures and suggestions implemented in this paper are generally good,and the environmental literacy of students has been significantly improved.The work of this thesis contributes a lot to the research of environmental science literacy education theory and provides a certain reference for the comprehensive development of primary school students in China.
