In order to meet the urgent needs of Library and information industry for high-level applied talents,China formally established the professional degree of Master of Library and information in 2010,and increase the training institutions three times after that,a large number of professional talents are trained,whose training quality has an important impact on promoting the development of Library and information subject in China.Writing a thesis is an important part of master’s training stage,which not only reflects the scientific research ability of students,but also shows the teaching achievements of the subject.The research on it can help to understand the current situation and trend of the development of its discipline and help to promote the development of the subject.This paper takes master’s thesis of MLIS delivered between 2013 and 2019 collected by CNKI China knowledge network and Wanfang database as the research sample,based on the formal analysis of authorized institutions,years and regions,it is found that the number of thesis authorized disclose of each institution is greatly different,which is basically positively related to the number of annual enrollment;the subject strength of each region is unbalanced,and the authorized institutions are mainly distributed in the East,which is in line with China’s current economy development situation.By analyzing the word frequency,coinage and social network of master’s thesis,it is found that the theme of master’s thesis of MLIS is characterized by both diversity and high concentration.In recent years,hot spots such as user oriented,service and big data have been emerged,and the theme has gradually extended from the traditional library and information field to service and information.This paper also analyzes the case of Heilongjiang University,and finds that the tutor team of Heilongjiang University is mainly full-time tutors and supplemented by part-time ones,which is reasonably distributed,and the part-time tutors with different backgrounds provide more research directions for the topic selection of the thesis;students have conducted extensive trials in the selection of research methods of the thesis,but there are problems,for example,the lack of normative research expression.This paper puts forward suggestions to improve the quality of master’s thesis in MLIS from the aspects of promoting thesis disclosing,rationalizing topic selection,standardizing writing and focusing on practice.
