The Influence Of Leisure On Labor Productivity Of Urban Workers

With the continuous improvement of economic development,people’s living standards have been significantly improved,and leisure activities have gradually integrated into the daily life of our residents,and become an indispensable part of our lives.The relationship between leisure and labor productivity is also increasingly concerned about researchers.However,in the previous research,People often only pay attention to the fact that leisure time will squeeze working time,which has a substitution effect on production.In recent years,scholars have begun to pay attention to the complementary effects of leisure to work,and think that leisure time will have a positive impact on economic development.Therefore,on the basis of the former,this paper uses the 2017 China Time Use Survey(CTUS)data and 2017 China Family Financial Survey(CHFS)data,starting from two levels of leisure time and leisure activities,this paper empirically analyzes the influence of leisure on labor productivity of urban workers.The results show that: first,leisure time has a significant positive impact on urban workers’ labor productivity.Second,leisure activities are divided into educational leisure activities and hedonistic leisure activities,in which hedonistic leisure activities have a positive impact on the labor productivity of urban workers.Third,the impact of leisure on labor productivity is different among different ages,industries and regions.Fourth,human capital can be accumulated during leisure time,thereby promoting the improvement of labor productivity.Finally,according to the conclusion of this paper,the following policy recommendations are put forward: first,to enhance workers’ own leisure awareness.Second,enterprises should create a good leisure atmosphere.Third,subdivide the leisure consumer market and promote industrial upgrading.Fourth,the government should increase the supply of public leisure facilities and supervise the implementation of the paid vacation system.
