Childhood is the key stage for the development of sensory-perception and motor ability. In this stage, strengthening the cultivation and training of sensory-perception and motor ability of mentally retarded children directly affects the development of motor skills in their growth process. In order to improve the sensory-perception and motor ability of children with mental retardation, this paper explores the intervention effect of sports games on sensory-perception and motor ability of children with mental retardation by using the methods of literature, experiment, comparative analysis and mathematical statistics.A total of 40 mentally handicapped children aged 6-9 years from a special education school in Xinfeng County,Jiangxi Province, where "Special Olympics Preschool Athletes Program" was implemented, were selected as the experimental subjects. The subjects were trained for 8weeks by using the sports games in the "Special Olympics Preschooler Athletes Activity Guide"(5 times a week,40 minutes each time),and the subjects were evaluated twice before and after the intervention by using the Shuangxi Curriculum Rating Scale. After data screening and sorting,30 valid sample data were finally selected, and SPSS22.0 was used for paired sample T test. The results showed that :(1)The sensory perception and motor ability of children with mental retardation increased to different degrees before and after intervention, and the effect of intervention before and after intervention was significantly different(P<0.01).(2)In the field of sensory perception of different types of children with mental retardation, the sensory perception ability of autistic children before and after intervention was significantly different,P =0.00<0.01;The perceptual ability of cerebral palsy,Down syndrome and mental retardation children before and after intervention was significantly different(P<0.05).(3)In the field of motor ability of different types of children with mental retardation, the motor ability of autistic children before and after intervention was significantly different,P=0.00<0.01;The motor ability of children with Down syndrome, children with mental retardation and children with cerebral palsy was significantly different before and after intervention(P<0.05).Research Conclusions:(1)After 8 weeks of experimental intervention, sports games have significant effects on improving sensory perception and motor ability of children with mental retardation. The growth rate of motor ability was higher than that of sensory and perceptual field, and the growth rate of gross movement was higher than that of fine movement.(2)After 8 weeks of experimental intervention, the sensory perception ability of children with different types of mental retardation was significantly improved, among which children with autism had the highest growth rate of sensory perception.(3)After 8 weeks of experimental intervention, the motor ability of children with different intellectual disabilities was significantly improved, among which the increase rate of motor ability of children with cerebral palsy was the highest.
