0-5 years old is a critical period for early childhood learning and social skills acquisition,and parents are the first and most important teachers of early childhood.High-quality family education has a greater impact on early childhood school success and social development.Therefore,it is very important to attach importance to family education and guidance.At the same time,since the 20 th century,different countries have promulgated a series of policies and regulations to support the development of family education guidance for early children;our country’s social survey reports and government-related policies have gradually increased their attention in this regard in order to solve the problems faced in family education and guidance.Therefore,paying attention to family education and guidance is of great significance to enriching my country’s relevant theoretical research and solving practical problems.This research takes the Missouri’s PAT program,in the United States as the object.By adopting two research methods: the literature method and the comparative method,based on the ecological system theory and lifelong education theory,the Missouri’s PAT program is conducted.The Missouri’s PAT program,which emerged in the 1980 s,is a family education guidance program.It is implemented during pregnancy and families with early childhood aged 0-5 years,regardless of race,religion,gender,nationality,age,health status or other restrictions.The Missouri Elementary and Secondary Education Department,Parents as Teachers National Center,School District,and Social Advisory Committee managed PAT program jointly,and personal visits,child screening,group connections,resource network are the Missouri’s PAT program’s main contents and implementation basis.The family education instruct teacher is the main implementer to guide the families participating in the program.This research explores the content and implementation of the Missouri PAT program.It analyzes the PAT program establishment,management,the main content,the implementation process,and the requirements of the family educators.Based on the characteristics and functions of the PAT program,and then get the enlightenment to the family education guidance of our country.Finally,through the analysis of the Missouri’s PAT program,in the United States,combined with the current problems in China’s family education guidance,such as lack of legal,financial and institutional guarantees,the content of family education guidance lacks pertinence,the quality of family education instructors is not high,insufficient attention to family education guidance from all sectors of society.All walks of life pay insufficient attention to family education guidance;the author summarized the enlightenment of the Missouri’s PAT program for family education guidance in our country,and made the following suggestions:First,speeding up the establishment of family education guidance legislation and mechanisms,and increase funding;second,exploring family needs in-depth and formulating personalized curriculum content;third,attaching importance to the training of family education guidance teachers,and improving ability and quality;fourth,increasing the importance of all parties to family education guidance and promote development.
