Stigma is a kind of category with negative and derogatory meaning, which is common in human society. Traditional stigma study tends to regard the stigma as a result of a kind of "Peculiarity or Difference". However, it is difficult to make substantive breakthrough by discussing the "Nature or Difference" of stigma in isolation, because those who lost their only child realize there are plenty of reasons to define themselves as derogatory, rejection or unwelcome person, the individual in interactive relationship can stigmatize others based on the characteristics of stigma, at the same time, can find a reason to acquire stigma experiences. Different from previous studies, the research perspective, this study fully considers people as in the complex social relations of the individual who is a kind of subjective consciousness of the behavior subject. Therefore, this study attempts to treat stigma as an interactive relationship, and think that the essence of the stigmatization is a kind of product that is generated in people's interactive process, in which this kind of"relationship" participates. For the choice of the research object, in consideration of the special experiences of those who lost their only child contain extremely rich implications of moral, emotion, value and culture, so take those who lost their only child as the research objects of the study of stigma theory has a high value. Based on the field visits of 31 samples who lost their only child in Y County, as well as the analysis of the process of the formation of the stigma of the loss of independence. This study mainly discussed and answered the three factors of understanding the essence of stigma, the process of stigma and the stigma characteristics of the lost individual:The understanding of individual stigma should take into account the impact of at least three aspects: First, by the stigma groups on their own brand identity and status have consistent cognition, this the collective consciousness will affect the cognition and evaluation of stigma; Second, different situations of the stigmatized social identity threat depends on the factors in the extent of individual perception to yourself may be belittled or discriminated against; Third, by the individual difference of the stigma will influence the stigma of the perception and reaction, especially for individual stigma sensitivity, sense of community, social identity and personal goals and motivation will affect their cognition and evaluation of the stigma situation. In addition, in particular social and cultural background, the stigma of losing independence is mainly the identification of self-identity of those who have lost their independence, which led to the stigma of external facts.Secondly, the stigmatization of those who lost their only child depends on the interaction relationship between them and other members of society, put it another way, people tend to determine whether to admit to the stigmatization of those who lost their only child, according to whether the exist of those who lost their only child will pose a threat and how much the threat is. Hereby, this article thinks that the essence of stigmatization is not the stigma attributes of those who lost their only child, but the stigma to those who lost their only child with the stigma attributes, this is the first conclusion; Secondly, the construction of a stigma is the result of both individual and the society, that is when others give the negative meaning of identity to those who lost their only child, at the same time, for those who lost their only child also conduct negative identity of self-stigma and imagination of self-stigma to themselves constantly; Thirdly, the characteristics of specific field, the uncertainty of imposing stigma and the source of highly homogeneous information directly lead to the imagination of self-stigma of those who lost their only child.Last, compared with the traditional logic of stigma, the stigma of losing independence is characterized by the following characteristics: first, from the "public-stigma" to "turn self-stigma"; second, from "stigmatization" to "Imagine stigma"; third, from the "implicit stigma" to "explicit stigma"; fourth, transfer from the individual to the collective stigma.
