Problematic online pornography use is defined as excessive and uncontrollable use of cyber-pornography,which results in negative outcomes and related dysfunctions. The problematic use of online pornography may lead to emotional problems, hinder interpersonal relationships, distort the cognitive of sex, overindulgence and addiction may also cause anti-social behaviors, like offensive and aggressive action, which can lead to serious sexual crimes. Therefore,it is of great significance to exploring the predictive factors of problematic Internet pornography use and carry out relevant norms and prevention.Early studies suggested that mental health, such as anxiety, negative emotions, while social factors(social isolation, social support),and sexual attitudes, early sexual experiences, could affect online pornography use,but the predictive effect of facial dimorphism preference on online pornography was neglected.A large number of studies have revealed that stronger preferences of masculine male face imply the tendency of mate selection in short-term and may have less restricted social attitudes and sexual behavior. At the same time, unrestricted sociosexual orientation(SOI)is closely related to online pornography. In the first study,we used a meta-analysis to explore the relationship between dimorphism preference of male facial and the sociosexuality. In study2,another meta-analysis research examine the relationship between SOI and problematic online pornography use.Based on the two meta-analysis research,we proposed a possible theoretical model hypothesis among the variables. In study 3,we investigated the predictive effect dimorphism preference of male face on problematic online pornography use by using structural equation model. In addition,Condition-dependent Preference theory holds that self-attraction will affect mate selection strategies and face preferences. In Study 4,we add self-attraction factors to expand the structural model of Study 3,and the whole model is validated in faggotry. The main results and conclusions are as follows:(1)The results of meta-analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between facial dimorphism preference of male face and SOI(r=0.13,P < 0.001).The correlation mainly manifested in the masculinity preference of male faces, and the correlation between females’ masculinity preference and SOI is closer;in heterosexual groups, the relationship between masculinity preference and SOI is stronger;(2)The meta-analysis of SOI and problematic Internet pornography use showed a significant correlation(r=0.50,p<0.001).Female with less restricted sociosexuality may have more pornographic behavior, harmful pornography is closer with SOI,and the correlation between social sexual behavior and sexual desire and pornography is stronger among SOI dimensions.(3)structural equation model found that dimorphism preference of male face can predict problematic Internet pornography use through the SOI,and sociosexuality has a complete mediating effect.(4)The multigroup analysis of the mediator model on gender show that the mediation model has cross-group consistency in male and female groups.Although gender can influence the relationship between the three variables,it does not affect the predictive effect of mediator model, which is applicable to both male and female groups.(5)In the gay men group,we found that the extended chain mediation model of self-attraction level → masculinity preference of male face→ SOI→ problematic online pornography use,and the predictive effect of dimorphism preference of male face on problematic online pornography use was fully validated. In conclusion, dimorphism preference of male face can predict the use of problematic online pornography through sociosexuality. In the context of Chinese subjects,we found that the preference for feminization preference of male faces can predict the use of problematic online pornography. |
