In the background of the rapid development of society, middle school students are facing pressure from themselves, family, society, and caregivers as the direct contact society for children, family as the direct contact social environment for children, not scientifi c way of parenting and family atmosphere of indifference will cause adverse effect on children’s growth. At the same time,as an early bad parenting experience, childhood psychological abuse is more likely to be ignored by parents and the society than physical abuse and sexual abuse, and the harm to a child’s development is long-lasting and profound. So from the perspective of ecosystem theory, psychosocial development theory and hierarchy of needs theory, this study explores the relationship between childhood psychological abuse and empathy of junior high school students, and develops corresponding group counseling intervention measures. In study 1 used the questionnaire investigation,a total of 819 students from Grade 7 to Grade 9 in a middle school in Wuhan were selected as the research subjects, the Childhood Mental Abuse Scale and the Basic Empathy Scale were used to investigate and analyze the symptoms,to explore the relationship between childhood psychological abuse and empathy of junior high school students, and develops corresponding group counseling intervention measures. To provide empirical basis for maintaining their mental health. In the second study, group counseling intervention was adopted.Twenty-six students with explicit degree of childhood psychological abuse were screened out from the first study and randomly divided into two groups. One group was taken as the object of group counseling intervention, while the other group did not do any treatment,so as to analyze the effect of group counseling intervention. The results are as follows:1.There were significant gender differences in childhood psychological abuse and empathy among junior middle school students.Boys had higher childhood psychological abuse than girls, while empathy was lower than girls.Secondly,on the level of empathy, there is a significant difference whether it is the class cadre’s demographic variable, that is,the non-class cadre’s empathy is lower than the class cadre’s;2.There is a significant negative correlation between childhood psychological abuse and the total score of empathy, and there is also a significant negative correlation between the dimensions of childhood psychological abuse(derogation, neglect, intimidation, interference)and the dimensions of empathy(cognitive empathy, affective empathy).3.The childhood psychological abuse of junior high school students can significantly negatively predict empathy and all dimensions of empathy(cognitive empathy and affective empathy);4.After the group counseling intervention, the total score of empathy, cognitive empathy and affective empathy of the experimental group all showed significant improvement, which indicated that the group counseling intervention had a certain effect on the empathy of junior high school students who had experienced childhood psychological abuse. In conclusion, the results of this study reveal the relationship between childhood psychological abuse and empathy of junior high school students, and provide a corresponding theoretical and empirical basis for the maintenance of mental health of adolescent groups.
