Hearing children from deaf families are called "Children Of Deaf Adults,CODA".Based on the narrative studies of three CODA’s,this study explores their current status and the contradictions and difficulties in the process of identity development, analyzes the factors affecting their identity development, and puts forward relevant suggestions, better identity and obtain a sense of identity and belonging that meets their own needs, expect to arouse the attention, understanding and support of deaf parents and even members of society to CODA.In this study, three Coda’s life field, life course and the impact of key events are used to construct a three-dimensional analysis framework to narrate.Through the study of the growth process of the three interviewees, the researchers drew the following conclusions:First,CODA’s identity is influenced by key events in the process of development. The identity development of the three interviewees is as follows:A questioned their hearing identity to full acceptance, and their attitudes toward their own families went through a process from non-acceptance to acceptance;B avoided their hearing identity to gradual recognition, and their attitudes toward their own families changed from acceptance to non-acceptance;C changed their identity from the beginning of C’s attitude toward their own identity changed from the beginning of hearing to uncertainty about their deaf-hearing identity, and their attitude toward their own family went through a process from non-acceptance to extreme non-acceptance.Secondly,the main problems CODAs face in the process of identity development are identity conflict and identity crisis. The identity conflict is manifested as the conflict between self-value orientation and others’ perceptions, and the conflict between and within roles;the identity crisis is manifested as the loss of identity and low subjective well-being.Thirdly,the development of CODA identity is affected by society, schools, families and individuals, which is manifesting the sway between deaf culture and hearing culture, school education’s disregard for CODA’s special needs, lack of family resources and common experience, and self Deviations in communication level and adaptability.Fourth,CODA’s identity showed four major characteristics:social construction, dynamic development, conscious activism, and cultural uniqueness. Finally, the researchers used the social support system to make the following suggestions for the development of CODA identity: society should establish a correct "deaf concept" and establish a support system;schools should establish sound student services to meet the special needs of CODA;deaf parents should enhance confidence and strengthen parent-child communication;CODAs should actively communicate with each other and be able to identify with the deaf-hearing biculturalism.
