Research On The Present Situation Of Kindergarten Teachers’ Competency

The quality of kindergarten teachers affects the quality of preschool education.Only those kindergarten teachers with good competence can effectively complete the teaching work of early childhood education and achieve the purpose of promoting the physical and mental development of children.Competency of kindergarten teachers refers to the synthesis of some characteristics that kindergarten teachers show in their education and teaching work,which can be measured by individual performance.It is helpful to build an excellent team of kindergarten teachers to evaluate the competence of kindergarten teachers and clarify their current competence level.This study uses “kindergarten teacher competency scale” to investigate the competency level of 218 in-service kindergarten teachers in N District of C City,and carries out data statistics through spss23.0,so as to understand the current situation of kindergarten teachers’ competency.Ten kindergarten teachers were selected from the survey objects for in-depth interviews to further understand the deficiencies of kindergarten teachers’ competency and related reasons,and then put forward suggestions to improve kindergarten teachers’ competency.The results show that the competency of kindergarten teachers is above the average level,and it still needs to be improved.The development level of kindergarten teachers’ competency in different dimensions is not balanced.The scores from high to low are education concept,teaching reflection,home education,teaching strategy and teacher cooperation.Through the difference test,it is found that there is no significant difference in gender variables,but significant difference in teaching age,age,education background,major and different types of kindergarten.In addition,this study also tested the differences between novice kindergarten teachers with preschool education major and skilled kindergarten teachers with non preschool education major,and found that the competency level of novice kindergarten teachers with preschool education major was significantly higher than that of skilled kindergarten teachers with non preschool education major.Through the in-depth analysis of the current situation and combined with interview data,this study also finds the deficiencies of kindergarten teachers’ competency,and explores the relevant reasons.Finally,based on the survey results,interview results and observation results,this paper puts forward the following four suggestions: first,kindergarten teachers should enhance their awareness of self-development and self-efficacy;Second,the pre service education institutions should strengthen the connection between students’ theoretical learning and educational practice,and the colleges should enhance their own school running strength;Third,the kindergarten should improve the pertinence,effectiveness and practicality of training activities,improve the relevant system construction and create a relaxed working environment;Fourth,the society should strengthen the policy guarantee for kindergarten teachers and create a social atmosphere of respecting teachers and valuing education.
