| Sexual harassment of college students is an increasingly serious social problem.As the victims of sexual harassment,college students may face a series of problems.Victims may not only encounter academic difficulties,but may also suffer from mood disorders and,in severe cases,depression.Even worse,depressed mood caused by sexual harassment may make the victim addicted to alcohol or gambling,putting them in greater danger.After the occurrence of sexual harassment incidents,victims often choose to submit to humiliation,which will cause the harasser to be more unscrupulous and do whatever they want.Therefore,this study takes college students as the research object,to explore and study the coping styles they take when facing sexual harassment,which can not only understand the current ways college students’ respond to sexual harassment and the influencing factors,but also provide some references for the prevention and control of sexual harassment in colleges and universities.This study adopted a questionnaire survey method and recruited 695 college students through convenient sampling.They were subjected to the Sexual Harassment Experience Questionnaire,the Sexual Harassment Coping Style Questionnaire,NEO Five-Factory Iventory,the Multidimensional Scale of Social Support scale and the Parental Bonding Instrument.579 college students with sexual harassment experience were screened out.Then,SPSS 19.0 was used to process the data using independent sample t test,one-way ANOVA,non-parametric test,correlation analysis and regression analysis,and the following results were obtained:(1)there were significant differences in the coping styles to sexual harassment in demographic variables,including gender,grade.sexual orientation and only-child status;(2)After controlling for demographic variables.it was found that social support and negation of maternal,sovereignty were predictors of avoiding/denying coping styles.open personality was a positive predictor of confrontation/negotiation coping styles.and social support was a positive predictor of social and advocates seeking coping styles.The results show that personality.social support and parental style are important factors that affect the way you cope with sexual harassment.Therefore.cultivating individual’s curiosity.maintaining an outgoing personality and an open attitude.enhancing individual’social support resources and encourage parents to use a warm parenting style can help individuals deal with sexual harassment more appropriately.Based on the results of this research.social work intervention can start from maintaining an individual’s open attitude.strengthening social support networks and encouraging parents to adopt warm parenting methods to help college students deal with sexual harassment more appropriately. |
