In any language learning,vocabulary learning is an indispensable part.Wilkins,a famous English linguist,once said,"without grammar,people can’t express many things;without vocabulary,people can’t express anything.".Thus,vocabulary learning plays a structural supporting role in language learning.In China,English curriculum standard for compulsory education was issued in 2011,which puts forward high standard and strict requirements for English vocabulary learning from the aspects of language skills,language knowledge and emotional attitude.In this context,vocabulary learning is no longer a simple recitation of words.How to make vocabulary teaching classroom lively and interesting and how to improve students’ vocabulary learning efficiency have become a hot topic in English education.However,according to the feedback of many front-line teachers and related literature research results,at present,many primary school English teachers in our country still adopt the traditional vocabulary teaching method,that is,repeated follow-up reading,mechanical transcription to carry out vocabulary teaching.These teaching methods are easy to cause students’ mental fatigue,lead to the situation of "can write or not read",and to a certain extent,increase the students’ academic burden.Through summarizing the pronunciation rules of letters and letter combinations,the natural spelling method establishes the internal relationship with the pronunciation of words,and finally realizes the teaching purpose of "seeing words can read,listening words can write".In addition,through rich classroom teaching activities to improve students’ classroom performance,so that pupils with limited attention can achieve "learning by playing,playing by learning".This study is based on deconstructionism learning theory and language transfer theory to design the teaching of natural spelling.In order to explore the effectiveness of natural spelling in vocabulary teaching,the experiment method is used to carry out teaching experiments.In this experiment,class 6(4)and class 6(5)of G primary school in Donghu high tech Zone of Wuhan city are selected as the research objects.Before the experiment,the subjects’ vocabulary is tested by pretest.Through the analysis of the results of the pretest,we can see that there is no significant difference between the two classes’ vocabulary scores,which is suitable for teaching experiments.In addition,two classes were organized to fill in a total of 129 questionnaires in order to understand the current situation of English vocabulary learning attitude of the subjects.Through experiment,questionnaire and interview,this paper discusses the following two questions:Question1: can phonics improve spelling performance?Question2:can phonics improve students’ classroom performance? There was no significant difference between the two classes in pretest scores,that is,six(5)classes were randomly set as the experimental class and six(4)classes as the control class.During the 18 week experiment,teachers used the phonics in vocabulary teaching in the experimental class and the traditional vocabulary teaching method in the control class.After the experiment,the experimental class and the control class were tested for vocabulary post test,and the experimental class was organized to fill in the post test questionnaire,and the data results were analyzed.It was found that the average scores of spelling and spelling in the experimental class were significantly higher than those in the control class.Many students in the experimental class expressed their willingness to master the pronunciation rules of letters and their combination in words in the classroom In the interview,most of the students in the experimental class expect to continue to learn the natural spelling in the future classroom.To sum up,we can draw the following conclusions: 1.Phonics can improve spelling performance.2.Phonics can improve students’ classroom performance.On the basis of the research,the author puts forward the prospect of the future English vocabulary teaching,hoping that the Phonics can be popularized in a wider range,and that more teachers can help students to raise their phonetic awareness through the teaching of professional Phonics.
