Lexical learning is the key part in foreign language study.Without lexical learning,there can be no skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing.However,facing English study,junior high school students are encountered a great many difficulties,such as being unable to remember new words and expressions firmly and thus presenting the short-term memory;lacking perseverance and means of reciting words when there are too many kinds of words,etc.In this way,this research,which is based on study transference theory,aims at solving the problem of reciting new words and expressions junior high school students encounter in English study,tries to establish the corresponding relations of “sounds” and “forms” with phonics,and further discusses the influence of phonics on students’ interest,as well as ability in lexical learning,reading and spelling.Also,based on the true statistics,the research will offer some new thinking for English lexical teaching of Grade one in Middle school so as to improve the purpose of English lexical teaching for Grade one students in middle school.This research adopts teaching experiments,and the experiment samples are 80 students in Class One and Class Two in Grade one,the 8th Middle School in BinCheng District,BinZhou City.Based on the fact that Class One is comparison group while Class Two is experiment group,there went a teaching experiment which lasted 16 weeks.Through analyzing and comparing the result before or after the language ability test that focused on lexical reading,spelling and comprehensive aspects,the research mainly studied the views and feedback of students about the phonics.The result of the research indicates that phonics can improve students’ reading and spelling ability,as well as enhance their comprehensive ability.What’s more,phonics is also able to motivate and stimulate students’ interest for lexical learning.The result of this research plays an active role in optimizing English lexical teaching for students of Grade One in middle schools.It is hoped that in the English lexical teaching in the future,teachers can more frequently use phonics and students can acquire more knowledge of spelling and reading.
