The cultivation of scientific research ability is an essential requirement of graduate education,which is of great significance for improving the level of scientific research and building a first-class university,and the progress of the social era cannot be separated from innovation.Innovation is the core of scientific research ability,indicating that the cultivation of scientific research ability is developed by the times need.This article takes the graduate students of liberal arts of Y University as the research object,and studies the current status and influencing factors of their scientific research ability.This article defines the scientific research ability of liberal arts graduate students as the ability of graduate students pursuing a master’s degree to use their own professional knowledge and scientific methods in the two major fields of humanities and social sciences to explore truth or solve problems It mainly includes the following basic elements: data collection and processing ability,scientific research and innovation ability,logical reasoning ability,knowledge accumulation ability,language expression ability,language understanding ability and intuition perception ability.The thesis refers to the research results of the predecessors,compiles the "Questionnaire for Scientific Research Ability of Masters of Arts" and conducts research based on the operational definition and the standard of dimension division.The following conclusions can be drawn from the questionnaire analysis:(1)Descriptive statistics indicate that the current overall level of scientific research ability of liberal arts masters graduates at Y University is average.The overall average score of the 432 surveyed Y university liberal arts graduate students’ scientific research ability was 3.20,slightly higher than the theoretical median value of 3.00,while the scientific research innovation ability as its core ability had the lowest score,lower than the theoretical median value of 3.00,indicating that the liberal arts master’s degree Scientific research and innovation capabilities are insufficient.From the perspective of scientific research results,a large percentage of the sample surveyed have not published articles,applied independently or participated in research projects.(2)The difference in background variables has a significant impact on scientific research capabilities.The specific manifestation is that different grades have a significant impact on the data collection and processing ability of liberal arts graduate students;whether cross-specialties have a significant impact on the language understanding ability and logical reasoning ability of liberal arts graduate students;Reasoning ability,knowledge accumulation ability,intuition perception ability and scientific research innovation ability have a significant impact;there are significant differences in all dimensions of scientific research ability of liberal arts master students with different motivations for research;the frequency of contact with the mentor on the information of liberal arts master students There are significant differences in collection and processing ability,logical reasoning ability,knowledge accumulation ability,intuition perception ability and scientific research innovation ability;disciplines have a significant impact on the knowledge accumulation ability and scientific research innovation ability of liberal arts masters.In order to provide practical and effective solutions for improving the scientific research ability of postgraduates,the follow-up interview survey was supplemented on the basis of the investigation and analysis of the current status of scientific research ability to explore the main influencing factors of the scientific research ability of graduate students of Y University of Arts.The interview research has drawn the following conclusions:(1)The influencing factors of scientific research ability are mainly composed of personal factors,environmental factors and practical factors.Among them,personal factors and environmental factors account for a high proportion,and each influencing factor includes different factors.(2)Among personal influence factors,knowledge reserve and self-efficacy are important influence factors.(3)Among the environmental factors,tutor influence and curriculum teaching are important influence factors.(4)In practice,scientific research practice and training are the main influencing factors.On this basis,put forward specific suggestions on how to improve the scientific research ability of the Master of Arts degree of Y University:(1)In the individual aspect,one is to attach importance to knowledge accumulation,improve theknowledge accumulation ability,and consolidate the foundation of scientific research;To increase the sense of self-efficacy in scientific research.(2)In terms of environment,one is to give full play to the guiding role of the instructor;the other is to improve the curriculum and optimize the teaching content.(3)In practice,one is to strengthen scientific research practice and training;the other is to strengthen writing ability training.
