| Motivation can provide motivation and guidance for elementary school students,and it is a personal preference factor for language learning that deserves attention.It is important to investigate and study urban pupils ’ motivation in English learning and to explore countermeasures for stimulating and cultivating their motivation.It can not only deepen this pupils’ English learning motivation study,but also effectively stimulate their motivation,and provide a reference for their practice,so it has research significance.This research is based on primary school English education in P City,H Province.Based on the internal motivation,external motivation,and achievement motivation theory,this study uses the quantitative research method to compose a self-reported Questionnaire.A questionnaire survey was conducted on randomly selected 520 primary school students from three urban elementary schools.It was found that urban primary school students’ overall level of English learning motivation was relatively high,with the stronger intrinsic motivation,less extrinsic motivation and weak achievement motivation.There were significant levels of English learning motivation among urban primary school students with different school,grade and family economic conditions.There were no significant differences in urban primary school students’ English learning motivations according to gender,parental education level,and type of family location.Stimulating and cultivating urban primary school students’ motivation for English learning should take countermeasures based on the level of urban primary school students ’ English motivation,and they should also take countermeasures based on the differences in school,grade and family economic status of urban primary school students’ English learning motivation levels to stimulate their English learning interest and improve their English learning motivation. |
