Research On The Social Work Supervision Relationship From The Perspective Of Social Exchange Theory

Social work supervision relationship is the core of supervision service,but there are few studies about supervision relationship,the type of relationship,the operation logic of supervision relationship,and existing problems of supervision relationship.The project of government purchase needs to be equipped with professional supervisor.The supervisor is an experienced expert,and the supervisee is the client lacking practical experience and knowledge.Therefore,in the process of supervision service,the supervisor provides professional knowledge and skills,and plays the functions of administration,education and support.The interaction between people is mutual benefit.The rich professional knowledge is the resources that supervisors can provide.The supervisee can provide emotional resources such as respect and obedience.Based on the social attraction,the form of social exchange,social reward,power,resources and other contents discussed in the social exchange theory,this paper explains the supervision relationship and its construction process from a new perspective.Through the investigation of the social work supervision service purchased by the government,the case data were collected and then carried out the case comparative analysis.The study found that professional support and emotional involvement are important factors affect the relationship.According to the level of professional support and emotional involvement,social work supervision relationship can be divided into four types: teacher-student relationship,professional relationship,tactful relationship,superior-subordinate relationship.Based on the perspective of the theory of social exchange,this paper analyzes the construction of different relationship types.In the process of analyzing these four types of supervision relations,we find that there are problems in the four types of supervision relations,which affect the development of social work supervision in China.Therefore,this paper puts forward advices for different relationship types.To some extent the study provides a reference for social work supervision practice and theoretical research.This will contribute to the development and improvement of the supervision system of social work,and also to the promotion of the professionalization and professionalization of social work in China.
