Space concept is one of the core qualities of primary school in mathematics training,it’s also an important part of students’ comprehensive quality.The general goal of Compulsory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standard(2011 Edition)pointed out that the mathematical education should experience the connection between mathematics knowledge 、 other subjects,and the practical life.Besides,enable students to use mathematiccal thinking mode,enhance the ability to find and put forward problems,analyze and solve problems".The cultivation of space concept pays attention to the integration of interdisciplinary.At the same time,it focus on hands-on practice,Implementing ability and process.This coincides with the idea of steam education,which is advocated in the National Education Reform in recent years.This study will base on the definite teaching connotation and teaching idea of STEAM,to understand the current situation of primary and secondary school students’ Space perception,focus on the cultivation of "Space concept" of primary school students,take the cultivation of space concept of primary school students as the goal,build the space concept cultivation strategy under the STEAM teaching concept,and test its feasibility and effectiveness through specific teaching practice.Firstly,through consulting and collecting a large number of domestic and foreign documents related to STEAM education and space concept training,combing and analyzing them,.This study will investigate the research status at home and abroad,and define the relevant concepts of STEAM education concept and Space concept,so as to provide theoretical basis and ideas for this study.Secondly,through the way of questionnaire and interview to understand the status of primary school students’ Space concept.Then,under the guidance of Constructivism Learning Theory,Learning with Practising theory and the theory related to the cultivation of children’s Space concept,the paper constructs the training strategy of primary school students’ Space concept based on STEAM concept.Based on the STEAM concept,three teaching activities are designed and developed,i.e.tower building,beautiful paper cutting and cube making.Last but not least,the third grade students of Guangzhou J primary school are selected as the research objects to conduct three rounds of action research.After the research,the students are tested,and the results of the two tests pass the IBM SPSS statistics 19.Paired sample t-test was conducted to study the application effect of space concept training strategy of primary school students based on STEAM concept.The results show that the teaching strategies and activities based on STEAM concept can play a positive role in the cultivation of Space concept in primary school.
