| Purpose:We explore the effect of aerobic plus resistance training on the health-related fitness in adolescents with moderate intellectual disability.Methods:Twenty-nine adolescents with moderate mental retardation were selected and the subjects were divided into intervention group and control group by random number table method. The intervention group performed aerobic plus resistance exercise for 11 weeks(n=16),and the control group did not participate in the exercise(n=13).The specific program is 4 training sessions per week, with 40 minutes of aerobic plus resistance training. Before and after the experiment, subjects were tested for the body composition, muscle fitness, cardiopulmonary endurance, and flexibility.Results:(1)After the experiment, skeletal muscle, muscle mass,fat-free body weight and body fat in the intervention group were significantly improved compared with those before the experiment(P<0.05).(2)After the experiment, seated push-up test, the times stand test, partial sit-up test and grip strength in the intervention group were significantly improved compared with those before the experiment(P<0.05),and the experimental group was significantly improved in seated push-up test compared with the control group(P<0.05).(3)After the experiment, the experimental group showed a significant improvement in the heart rate after exercise(P<0.05).(4)After the experiment, functional shoulder rotation(left)in the intervention group showed significant improvement compared with that before the experiment(P<0.05).In the control group, the hamstring group supine-passive knee extension test(right),the modified Thomas test(left)and the the modified Thomas test(right)in intervention group were significantly lower than before the experiment(P<0.05).Conclusions:(1)Aerobic plus resistance exercise has a positive effect on the body shape of adolescents with moderate intellectual disability. After the experiment in the intervention group, body fat decreased significantly, muscle mass,fat-free mass and skeletal muscle content increased significantly.Aerobic plus resistance exercise has some of certain effect on reducing fat and muscle for adolescents with moderate intellectual disabilities.(2)Aerobic plus resistance exercise has a significant effect on the muscle fitness in adolescents with moderate mental retardation, effectively improving muscle strength and endurance.(3)Aerobic plus resistance exercise has a positive effect on the cardiopulmonary endurance of teenagers with moderate mental retardation.(4)Aerobic plus resistance exercise can produce a good effect on the flexibility and adaptability of teenagers with moderate mental retardation. |
