| With the rapid advancement of modern social civilization,the concept of "citizen" is not very strange to today’s China.But what civic awareness a qualified citizen should have is still a question worth discussing.Moreover,in the current school education,a complete system of civic awareness has not yet been established.The overall level of civic awareness education is low.Students should have developed a good civic awareness through systematic learning in primary and secondary schools.However,the reality is that many students are still unsatisfactory in their civic awareness at college.The absence of civic awareness education in primary and secondary schools requires that universities must make up for this lesson for students.Moreover,the cultivation of civic awareness should be a continuous lifelong process and should not stop at a certain stage.Different education methods should be adopted according to the different characteristics of student development in different stages of education.The civic awareness education conducted in primary and secondary schools is mainly based on classroom teaching.At the college level,civic awareness education should emphasize practice.College association can provide a good practice platform for the education of college students’ civic awareness,so that the students can use the relevant knowledge they learned to participate in the college association activities,thus strengthening their understanding and understanding of civic awareness.Therefore,this paper conducts investigations and studies through questionnaires and interviews to explore the relationship between college student associations and their civic awareness.Focusing on research themes,this paper proposes the following research questions:1.What is the status of college students’ civic awareness and college students’ participation in associations?2.Are there differences in the civic awareness of college students with different background characteristics?3.Can college students’ participation in associations promote the development of college students’ civic awareness?In order to thoroughly explore the above issues,this study combines qualitative and quantitative methods,mainly based on questionnaires and supplemented by interviews.It systematically analyzes the relationship between college student associations and college students’ civic awareness.On the basis of previous studies,an open-ended interview and trial test were conducted to compile the " College Students’ Participation in Associations and Citizenship Awareness Questionnaire." The questionnaire mainly includes the status quo of college student participation and the current status of college students’civic awareness.According to the factor analysis of college students’participation in some scales,the three dimensions of college students’ participation in associations are:the enthusiasm of college students’ participation in associations,the participation of association construction management,and the self-realization of association’s participation.According to the factor analysis of the college students’ civic awareness scale,the three dimensions of civic awareness are:subjective participation awareness,public responsibility awareness,and legal awareness.Combined with SPSS data analysis results and qualitative interview data,the relationship between college students’ participation in associations and the development of civic awareness is analyzed,and how association’s participation influences the development of civic awareness.The main findings and conclusions of this study are:1.College students’ public responsibility consciousness performed well.2.The participation consciousness of college students is general.3.The consciousness of the rule of law of college students is weak and needs to be improved.4.The overall participation of college student associations is good.5.Association’s participation can promote the development of college students’civic awareness.Participation in enthusiasm,associations’ management participation have a positive effect on the civic awareness of college students.6.Different types of associations have different effects on the development of college students’ civic awareness.Students participating in the public welfare and practice associations perform better than those participating in academic science and technology associations.Based on the above findings,this study makes the following recommendations:First,by enriching the content and form of community activities,an incentive mechanism was established to mobilize the enthusiasm of college students in the participation of the community and promote the development of their civic awareness.Second,by improving the internal institutional development of the college association,introducing the concept of "Internet+" and strengthening the "cross-border" communication between communities,etc.,the level of college student associations and management participation will be improved,thereby promoting the development of their civic awareness.Third,through the support of preferential policies and the strengthening of effective publicity and other means to promote the development of college associations.Particular attention should be given to supporting the development of associations that have a greater role in enhancing the awareness of civic awareness among college students in the areas of public welfare and practice,life and entertainment,and sports and athletics. |
