Analysis Of The Essence And Harm Of Western Neo-populism

In the 21 st century,western new populism has become the hottest and most valuable research content,and it has profoundly affected the policy direction and national development of western capitalist countries.However,because of the vagueness of the concept of neo-populism and the variability of expression,it has always been a controversial topic in the academic world.This article attempts to study the roots and internal logic of western neo-populism from its essence and harm,in order to achieve a deeper understanding of it.In the new era,facing the export of mainstream Western consciousness and culture,we should also guard against the collateral effects brought about by the new populist trend of thought.This article believes that Western neo-populism originated from the Russian populist movement and the American "People’s Party" movement about 150 years ago.After several populism developments in Latin America,Canada and other countries,it gradually evolved into a form of neo-populism.New populism mainly refers to the political propositions that have emerged as the people’s position in Europe,the United States,other countries from the end of the last century to the present.After sorting out its practical content,this article believes that it is manifested as opposition to representative politics,social anti-intellectualism,nationalism,anti-globalization,and it has had a profound impact on countries around the world.Deeply studying its essence,it can be roughly attributed to the political design of the elite and the decline of left-wing and center-left party organizations.It is difficult to balance the pendulum movement on the left and right sides of the political spectrum.While studying the harm,we have to admit that the generalization of neo-populism in the Western world is reasonable.This is analyzed in the second chapter of this article.According to historical materialism,we should first study the background of the new populist trend of thought and affirm the rationality of its emergence,that is,the western economy,politics,and society are difficult to adapt to the new round of social productivity changes.However,we should also face up to its harm.As a clear extreme right-wing ideological trend,neo-populism has already wiped out the pluralism within Western society,and social contradictions have become more acute;opposition to the representative system has increased the uncertainty of Western governments’ decision-making;The extreme right tendency of the People’s Republic of China activates the Cold War mentality and hegemonism in various fields,and what is more,it will pave the way for the resurgence of neo-fascism.At the same time,in China where globalization and the One Belt One Road policy are becoming more and more open,we should also be careful about the impact that neo-populism may have on our country.This article analyzes the causes of the harm of the new populism and analyzes the new populism from the capitalist production restriction,idealism,the dialectical unity of the masses and the elite.Through the analysis of the root cause of the harm,it has important theoretical value to achieve the warning effect on our country.
