On Practical Dilemmas And Response Analysis Of National Security Education For College Students In Qinghai Province

National security refers to a country to be free from danger or internal/external threats,and to be able to sustain such security.Currently,upholding national security becomes complex and arduous as China’s comprehensive strength and international status improved,and with a remarkable increase in foreseeable and unforeseeable factors,the philosophy of development and safeguarding security must be coordinated in ways of enhancing the awareness of opportunities and potential risks,applying bottom-line thinking and viewing difficulties and risks to a new depth.We must focus on loopholes and weaknesses and effectively address risks and challenges in a proactive manner,can we forge ahead smoothly the socialist modernization.College students are the backbone underpinning future development of the country,and their awareness and ability to safeguard national security are vital.Hence it is urgent to strengthen national security education at college level.With some special features,the national security education for college students in Qinghai becomes more complex and urgent,and has been endowed with profound significance as in: firstly,it is conducive to building a holistic system of national security education in Qinghai;secondly,it can support stability for ethnic minority areas and national security,and promote the ability of the local government to predict and prevent public crisis.Based on classification and explanation of relevant concepts,this thesis conducts questionnaire surveys and interviews to view the current status of college-level national security education in Qinghai,and explores the basic objectives and demands of improving such education in the new era and analyzes the practical dilemmas,difficulties and causes of national security education for college students in Qinghai province,and tried to put forward suggestions.Studies have shown that efforts have been made in national security education for college students,however practical dilemmas lie in participants,forms,contents,legal support and satisfaction of the students.To be more specific,the education lacks top-level design,objectives,various forms,systematic curriculum arrangements,and innovated contents,while the students lack basic knowledge about national security etc.These dilemmas are caused mainly by insufficient awareness of the entities involved,professors not experienced enough in such education,less understanding of ethnic regions,incomplete disciplines,methods and platforms not being fully used,and opinion atmosphere in colleges yet to be fully established.In response to these drawbacks,the thesis yields that in order to enhance college-level national security education in Qinghai,it is necessary to explore the establishment of a complete system of and an environment conducive to national security education.Significantly improve the college-level national security education in Qinghai through accelerated infrastructure and specialized construction.
