Abstract/Summary:
In recent years,with the help of the state,all ethnic minority autonomous areas have lifted themselves out of poverty and entered the fast track of development.However,poverty alleviation is not only economic poverty alleviation,but also cultural poverty alleviation,ideological poverty alleviation and face poverty,among which the face poverty alleviation depends to a large extent on the media presentation.For many years,the media has portrayed ethnic minorities as those who are good at singing and dancing,relatively poor and in need of help.Such a reporting framework hinders the promotion of ethnic minorities’ appearance in poverty alleviation and reinforces the stereotype.Yao,one of China’s 55 ethnic minorities,also faces such problems.Nowadays,earth-shaking changes have taken place in the autonomous areas of Yao ethnic group.Does the image shaping of Yao ethnic group by mass media change with The Times? What are the characteristics of Yao’s images in different periods? Has become the focus of this article.In addition,the study of Yao’s image today cannot escape from the historical dimension.How did the media present the image of Yao in different periods? What construction strategies does it use? It is also one of the key research issues in this paper.This paper,with the illustrated magazine MINZU HUABAO as the research object,adopts the methods of content analysis and text analysis,and combines the theoretical knowledge of semiotics,news framework,discourse rhetoric,news narrative and so on,to explore the presentation and construction of Yao’s image since the founding of MINZU HUABAO in1955.First of all,the author for ethnic illustrated content analysis,found that the yao ethnic group in the MINZU HUABAO report presents a fewer number of reported type is given priority to with special photography and graphic news,reported object mainly concentrated in the yao ethnic group autonomous areas and rural areas,news sources mainly for your correspondent,focus areas are mainly concentrated in the field of politics and culture,The keynote of the report is mainly positive and neutral.Through further analysis,extract the ethnic illustrated yao report presents the image of nine,the owner of ethnic culture image and the improvement of the living image,countries host image,home builders,praise and advocate image,based on image,the image of the noble moral character,the unity of the ethnic groups practitioners image and the owner of the image of natural resources.Through combing social history and ethnic policies,this paper summarizes the media presentation of Yao ethnic group in different periods.Secondly,this paper uses the method of text analysis to analyze the construction strategy of Yao’s image in MINZU HUABAO.News frame is an important norm for Yao’s media image presentation.This paper extracts six content frames of Yao’s reports,namely,the frame of living and working in peace and contentment,the frame of ethnic unity and equality,the frame of institutional superiority,the frame of supporters,the frame of rich resources and the frame of personal morality.Under the influence of the news frame,the metaphorical strategy in discourse rhetoric and the dual narrative structure in news narrative have become the key elements to shape the image of Yao.In addition,visual frames such as thematic frame,symbolic frame,choice frame and technical frame,together with content frame,construct the overall image of Yao.Finally,through the analysis of the characteristics of Yao ethnic group reporting,the image presentation of Yao ethnic group and the image construction strategy of Yao ethnic group in the MINZU HUABAO,the image presentation of Yao ethnic group in the new period is discussed and prospected,in the hope that in the future,Yao ethnic group can meet the new development with a new look.
