With the continuous development of human industrial civilization, the problem of ecological environment gradually appeared and gradually entered the public’s vision. Thus the relationship between man and nature becomes clear: the nature existed before the human society, but the latter two were not in a completely balanced state. To be specific, scholars from all walks of life have different opinions on the issues related to the ecological environment.Sara Saka(referred to as Saka for short)through the analysis of the reasons for the failure of soviet socialism and the infeasibility of eco-capitalism,discussed the ecological environmental problems from the perspective of population, and then formed his own unique ecological socialist population thought.Saka’s population thought of ecological socialism is based on Malthus’ s population theory. He believes that,as Malthus said, population is always in geometric progression of growth, and the increase of the means of living will never catch up with the speed of population growth,so population growth is an eternal law of nature. On this basis, first of all,he believes that one of the reasons for the failure of soviet socialism is the deterioration of the ecological environment caused by the population growth,as well as the new class socialist society of moral decay and the lack of ecological awareness of the population, the negative effects of population growth and lack of ecological consciousness on ecological environment are discussed from a new perspective.Secondly,as for whether the capitalist society can achieve a good ecological environment in the end,Saka reveals the inherent greed and evil nature of the population in the capitalist society, and then believes that eco-capitalism is difficult to achieve after all. Finally,he called on socialist countries to limit the unlimited growth of population,to increase the ecological awareness of the population, and establish an eco-friendly socialist country by promulgating laws and measures. The study of Saka’s ecological socialist population thought is of positive significance to the formulation of China’s population policy and the enhancement of ecological consciousness of population in the populous country. However, the research based on the perspective of Marxist theory can better explore the strengths and weaknesses of Saka’s ecological socialist population thought,so as to give play to its potential value.
