| Aristotle(384-322 BC),the founder of Western Political Science,made an unparalleled contribution to the development of world political science.Aristotle’s political theory has its own characteristic political thoughts.The uniqueness of these political thoughts lies in the philosophy of the doctrine of the mean.Aristotle’s doctrine of the mean runs through his ethical and political thoughts,and is regarded as the foundation of the construction of a good city-state.Therefore,Aristotle’s political thought of the mean has certain historical and practical significance,which is worthy of further study and discussion in this paper.The full text mainly discusses from the following four parts:1.This paper introduces the historical background and ideological origin of Aristotle’s political thought of the mean.The political background is mainly the democracy of ancient Greece;the economic background introduces the income source of ancient Greek city-state citizens through colonial plunder and other ways;the cultural background demonstrates the representative political culture of ancient Greece,namely the skill of "speech".The origin of thought introduces the "mean" thought of different philosophers in ancient Greece and its influence.2.This paper summarizes the ethical basis of Aristotle’s political thought-the doctrine of the mean.As the core of Aristotle’s ethical thought,the doctrine of the mean focuses on ethical virtue,and extends its political thought from the doctrine of virtue,making it the ethical basis of Aristotle’s political thought.3.The core of this paper is to analyze the main content of Aristotle’s political thought of the mean.The main contents of Aristotle’s "mean" political thought are embodied in four aspects: the rule of the middle class,the mixed constitution,the separation of powers and the rule of law.These four aspects constitute the essence of Aristotle’s "mean" political thought.4.Comment on Aristotle’s political thought of the mean.This paper discusses the contribution,limitation and Enlightenment of Aristotle’s political thought of the mean.The contributions are as follows: the stability of middle class rule,the balance ofmixed regime,the restraint of decentralization,and the rule of law is superior to the rule of man.The limitations are embodied in: the exploitation of class rule,the idealism of regime,the immaturity of decentralization.The enlightenment lies in the cultivation of good moral character,the anti-corruption of the government and the construction of a harmonious society. |
