Research On The Communist Party Of China Handling The Relationship Between China And Myanmar(1949-1991)

Myanmar is the first non-socialist country to recognize the new China and the first country to settle the border problem with China.The two countries retain a friendly relationship on a whole since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries,in spite of experiencing certain circuitous development in the 1960s.After the reform and opening up,relationship between China and Myanmar entered a stage of steady development.The research starts with the establishment of New China in 1949,ends with the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the Cold War.During this period,the leaders of the Communist Party of China such as Mao Zedong,Zhou Enlai and Deng Xiaoping have played an important role in promoting the development of China-Myanmar relationship.This paper selects an angle of the Chinese Communist Party dealt with the relationship between New China and Myanmar during the Cold War period.It closely combines policy maker’s policies to Myanmar such as Mao Zedong,Zhou Enlai and Deng Xiaoping and analyzes the Chinese Communist Party’s policies about deal with of China-Myanmar relationship based on the developmental characteristics of various stages of China-Myanmar relationship.From 1949 to 1956,at the beginning of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Myanmar,the main content was China’s foreign policies in the early stage of the founding of the People’s Republic of China,the process of establishing diplomatic relationship between China and Myanmar and the slow development of China-Myanmar relationship in the early stage of diplomatic relationship.From 1956 to 1966,the Chinese Communist Party mainly dealt with the three historical remaining problem and actual problems between Myanmar and China.,which is the problem about China-Myanmar border,the‘double nationality’of overseas Chinese and the issue of the North Korean national army.China-Myanmar relationship experienced an ups and downs from 1966 to1976,including:friendly-rupture-recovery.During the period of reform and opening up,the leaders of China and Myanmar maintained high-level exchanges of visits,economic and trade relations developed in depth,and relationship between the two countries entered a new stage of steady development.
