Research On The Basic Issues Of New China’s National Defense Culture(1949-1978)

New China’s national defense culture is an advanced political culture fostered by the People’s Army and the masses under the leadership of the Communist Party of China(CPC)in the new democratic society and in different historical periods of socialist transformation,construction,and reform.In the course of the struggle and construction of the national defense of New China,the national defense culture of New China,reflecting the characteristics of the times and conforming to national missions,has been gradually formed.The defense culture plays a vital role in safeguarding China’s state power,withstanding external threats,and protecting the safety of people’s lives and property.In addition,it provides the right value orientation and powerful inner drive for the people of all ethnic groups nationwide to sum up patriotism featuring hard work,solidarity,and courageous fight.This thesis selects the historical period from 1949,the year of the founding of People’s Republic of China(PRC),to 1978,before China’s adoption of reform and opening up.Historical materials involving domestic and overseas security situation,policy adjustments of the CPC and state,and the strategic goals of national defense struggle and construction are chosen to serve as basis for the research.Research methods like literature study and experience summarization are employed to explore the era conditions,theoretical and practical foundations,and cultural generation forces of the emergence and development of the national defense culture of PRC.Furthermore,the essential attributes of the defense culture is illustrated,that is,the creation of national defense culture guided by Marxism,the cultural achievements of the socialist national defense struggle and construction,the inheritance and development of the red revolutionary culture and of China’s excellent traditional national defense culture and so on.In addition,connotations of the defense culture including the unity of politics and people,of revolution and time,and of inheritance and innovation are also demonstrated.Based on the combination of the logic of history,theory,practice and value of the birth and growth of the new China ’s national defense culture,the writer reveals that the culture has always regarded the major theoretical achievements of Marxism in China as guidance,adhered to the fine traditions like mass line and independence of the CPC,remained integrated with socialist construction forces,and formed laws in its development process which are highly in line with socialist national defense struggles and construction practices.New China’s national defense culture has displayed its value of the times via offering a strong cultural foundation to realize the Chinese dream and the dream of building a strong military in the new era,serving as a powerful cultural underpinning for the cultivation and practice of socialist core values,providing a spiritual bond for the consolidation of national defense and the strengthening of national cohesion,assembling valuable spiritual wealth for cultivating a new generation of revolutionary soldiers,and presenting high-quality cultural resources for the construction of national defense culture in the new epoch.From the perspective of Marxism,the writer has studied basic facets including the theoretical and practical foundation,connotation and characteristics,evolution laws,and value of the times of the CPC’s creation of New China’s national defense culture,and the study itself represents theoretical exploration and realistic thinking on important issues comprising vital instruction of "adhering to the promotion of Chinese traditional culture,revolutionary culture,and socialist advanced culture" in the new era from the CPC,comprehending the historical context and practical direction of the development of China’s socialist national defense culture,and highlighting the important value of the times of national defense culture.
