The project of postgraduate education support group is a long-term voluntary service project for college students to participate in educational poverty alleviation,which is carried out by the central committee of the league in conjunction with universities in various places in China.Over the past decades,it has played an important role in improving the education level and reducing the educational gap in the central and western regions of China.Its contribution to education in the west was recognized by the country and society.How to make full use of university students who are interested in participating in voluntary service and further play the role of university youth in education and poverty alleviation in western China is a field worthy of discussion.As the driving force for volunteers to participate in volunteer service,volunteer motivation is the key factor affecting the development of volunteer service.Functional theory holds that the reason why people choose,implement and maintain a certain volunteer behavior is that the volunteer behavior has some functions that can realize the needs of volunteers,namely "need-motivation-behavior".The study from the perspective of volunteer motivation,Using the research results of Zhuo Gaosheng,Kong Demin,Che Wenjun and others on volunteer motivation classification,The voluntary motivation types of the postgraduate support group are divided into four types: selfdevelopment,value expression,cognitive improvement and social communication,including eight dimensions: obtaining postgraduate qualification,exercising one’s own ability,obtaining career development,sense of achievement,sense of value,enriching experience,expanding horizons and making friends.According the demand change and service enthusiasm,The project of postgraduate education support group is divided into 5 stages: waiting period(volunteer recruitment ~ induction training),explore period(induction training ~ 3 months),adjustment period(3 months ~the end of winter vacation),stationary period(end of winter vacation ~ 3 months in the second semester)and separation period(3 months of the second semester ~ service end),Based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory,it is believed that the members of the graduate student support group have the needs of safety,physiology,social interaction,respect and self-actualization in the process of participating in volunteer service,and the motivation of the postgraduate support group members is not single and fixed,but diversified and mixed,there are different focuses in different stages of volunteer education service.And from the government,universities,the Communist Youth League,service units and the volunteers themselves for the long-term development of the graduate student support group management Suggestions.
