The Assistance And Investment Research Of Asian Development Bank To Greater Mekong Sub-region Countries

With the orderly advancement of China “One Belt and One Road” initiative,it will inevitably encounter some difficulties in the construction of the China-Indochina Peninsula Economic Corridor and the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor involving the countries of the Greater Mekong Region.The establishment of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism led by the Chinese government is a sharp sword that effectively resolves these difficulties.However,the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism is still in its "infancy period".The development in many aspects is not enough to resolve the conflicts about the countries of the Greater Mekong Region with a timely and effective manner.Therefore,the author believes that it is necessary to conduct in-depth research on ADB’s assistance and investment in the Greater Mekong Sub-region countries.By reflecting on and summing up its experiences and lessons,it will be contributed to the future development of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism.With a view to assisting in the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism of the sword,we should open up the lines of independency with the Greater Mekong Sub-region countries in the "One Belt and One Road" initiative,and strive to realize the overall layout of the "One Belt and One Road" initiative.Based on this,this paper takes the perspective of international economic relations as an entry point to comb and study ADB’s assistance and investment to the Greater Mekong Sub-region countries.First of all,through a profound analysis the background of the establishment of ADB,sources of funds,leaders and participants,as well as aid and investment categories,it is concluded that there are both realistic and theoretical sources for its establishment,the ADB more channels of funding sources,leading players and participants are mostly developed countries and more various forms for aid and investment category.Secondly,through the detailed analysis of the ADB’s assistance and investment projects to the Greater Mekong Sub-regioncountries,it is concluded that the ADB assistance and investment mode has the characteristics of five aspects,such as the maximum frequency of technical assistance.Thirdly,through deepening the evaluation of ADB’s aid and investment behavior both inside and outside of the region and in-depth analysis of ADB’s assistance and investment to the Greater Mekong Sub-region countries,we discovered that there are five problems,such as ADB’s investment preference and politicization and so on.Finally,through summarizing aid and investment experience of the Asian development bank to the Greater Mekong Sub-region countries,then we will get the enlightenment of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism.Through the above research,the main findings of the paper are: First,the influence of ADB’s aid and investment in the Greater Mekong region will gradually decrease with the establishment and development of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism.On the contrary,the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism will achieve deeper development in the region.Second,cooperation and sharing is a way to guarantee the smooth development of the ADB,the Greater Mekong Sub-region economic cooperation mechanism,the AIIB and the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism from now on,and whether the best plan for achieving rapid development of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism.Third,the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism should be accurately positioned and the country’s investment should be focused on eight areas to increase the influence on the countries in the Great Mekong region and to avoid problems in ADB’s aid and investment in the Greater Mekong Sub-region countries.We will strive for the early realization of the establishment of a cooperation mechanism that will become the leading area and demonstration area for the early harvest of the“Belt and Road”initiative.
