Homework is an important part of English teaching.As an important activity and link,successful English homework can effectively extend classroom teaching.English curriculum reform is in full swing today,but few people pay attention to the reform of extracurricular homework.There are many problems in current homework,such as single form and type,excessive amount,unified difficulty and evaluation,which is not suitable for the most students,and hence the effect of homework is greatly reduced.Fortunately,the New Curriculum Standard issued in 2017 gives guiding and feasible clues and ideas to improve the above problems.The New Curriculum Standard points out that activity is the basic form of English learning and teachers should practice the activity view of English learning in class so as to students can develop learning ability and cultivate core literacy through English activities.Therefore,the author carries out a relevant study on English hierarchical homework from the perspective of activity view of English learning.Combined with research results of experts at home and abroad,this thesis takes the students of class 4,senior 2 of Gaizhou No.2 senior high school as the experimental object,and takes Confucius’ s “teaching students according to their aptitude” and Vygotsky’s “Zone of Proximal Development”as the theoretical guidance.Three issues are discussed in this thesis:(1)What is the current situation of English homework in senior two of this school?(2)What are the effects of homework based on the activity view of English learning on students’ learning ability?(3)What are the effects of homework based on the activity view of English learning on students’ English performance? This thesis was carried out by means of tests,questionnaires and interviews,and paid attention to students’ feelings and needs in the process of the experiment,with the purpose of designing homework in line with students’ ability and cultivating their core literacy.After the experiment,the author will analyse the results of questionnaires,interview and tests.Through analysis,the author gets conclusions as following: the amount and difficulty of“one size fits all” homework can not meet the needs of most students.At the same time,the single form and boring content make students have little interest in homework.Therefore,students are eager for homework with various forms and suitable for their own ability.Hierarchical activity homework under the guidance of activity view of English learning is conducive to improving students’ English learning ability and academic achievement.Among them,level C students make the greatest progress,followed by level B students,and finally level A students.However,there are still some problems in this thesis.Therefore,in the last chapter,the author points out the disadvantages of this experiment and the relevant enlightenment,in order to provide some reference for the majority of teachers in designing English hierarchical homework.
