A Study On The Decorative Patterns Of Chaozhou Wood Carving

This topic is researched from the sub-direction of the tutor’s humanities and Social Science research project "Research on the Application of Chinese Traditional Patterns in Cultural and Creative Industries".Chaozhou wood carvings are folk wood carvings in the author’s hometown.Chaozhou wood carvings are involved in ancestral buildings,furnishings and even household furniture.The decorative patterns of chaozhou wood carvings are rich in themes,reflecting the aspirations of chaoshan people for a better life and the local folk customs in Chaoshan.Each pattern is a wonderful story replay,loved by modern people.Therefore,the author has the idea of studying chaozhou wood carving culture from the perspective of decorative patterns,trying to dig deeper and study the decorative art of Chaozhou wood carving patterns.During the research period,the author visited many areas related to Chaozhou wood carving and photographed a certain number of wood carving works,sorted out and summarized the wood carving works taken by the research and described their decorative patterns.Visited the artists of Chaozhou wood carving,discussed the development status of Chaozhou wood carving with them,and put forward the protection countermeasures and inheritance methods for the decorative patterns of Chaozhou wood carving.At the same time,it explores the innovative application of chaozhou wood carving decorative patterns into our life and in modern design.There are four chapters in this paper.In chapter one,through field research and relevant literature review,the relevant works and literature materials in the research are sorted out,and the research background,research status,research content,research significance,research methods and innovation points of the research are elaborated.The second chapter from the perspective of the development of Chaozhou wood carving,from the geographical environment,natural conditions,political economy,folk customs and other aspects of the formation of Chaozhou wood carving,carding the development of Chaozhou wood carving and carving technology.The third chapter takes the subject matter and content of chaozhou wood carving decorative patterns as the entry point,expounds the expression techniques and formal beauty rules of Chaozhou wood carving decorative patterns.The fourth chapter discusses the similarities and differences between Chaozhou wood carving decorative patterns and other wood carving decorative patterns,analyzes the value of its decorative patterns,and puts forward protection methods and inheritance methods for the protection and inheritance of decorative patterns according to its development status,and finally thinks about the innovative application of decorative patterns in visual design.
