| In order to meet the requirements of educational reform in the new era,change the current situation of students’ knowledge fragmentation in primary school English teaching,and mobilize students’ learning initiative and enthusiasm to the greatest extent,this study intends to carry out unit theme teaching model in primary school English teaching and explore its feasibility and effectiveness.Based on Vygotsky’s “ZPD” theory,Bloom’s Taxonomy of Educational Objectives and Constructivism Theory,this study explores the application of unit theme teaching model in primary English.It mainly answers three research questions:1)What is the impact of unit theme teaching model on pupils’ interest in English learning? 2)What is the effect of unit topic teaching model on pupils’ speed of memorizing English vocabulary? 3)What is the impact of unit theme teaching model on students’ English achievement?The author takes two parallel classes and English teachers in Grade 6 of a primary school in Liaoyang City,Liaoning Province as the research objects,carries out a one semester teaching experiment,and sets up a control class(CC)and an experimental class(EC).The control class adopts the traditional teaching mode,and the experimental class adopts the unit theme teaching mode.Using the method of combining qualitative and quantitative research,the research instruments include questionnaire and interview,collect the relevant data on the use of unit thematic teaching model in primary school English classroom,and make statistics and result analysis on the data.The research shows that the unit theme teaching model helps primary school students’ interest in English learning.By using this teaching model in the classroom,students’ speed of memorizing words has been significantly improved.At the same time,under this teaching model,students’ English performance has been significantly improved.This study has a certain reference value for English teaching in primary schools in China.On the one hand,students need to accept and adapt to this new teaching mode.At the same time,teachers are also in the process of constantly exploring at this stage.On the other hand,this study also has some limitations,such as the acceptance ability of the research objects,the number of research objects and so on.Therefore,in the future teaching,primary school English teachers should improve the frequency of using the unit theme teaching mode,constantly explore the effective operation steps of the overall unit teaching mode and the teaching principles to be followed,so as to improve the efficiency and quality of primary school English teaching. |
