Sports Activities In Yinshan Rock Painting

Yinshan rock painting records the real scene of nomadic people’s life and production and social changes in the northern grassland,which is a precious historical data to explore the germination and development of sports.The study of sports activities in Yinshan rock paintings can not only sort out the production and development track of nomadic sports in the northern grassland,understand its cultural connotation and spiritual world,enrich the theoretical research content of national sports,but also have important significance for the protection and promotion of Yinshan rock paintings.This study adopts the methods of literature,field investigation,comparative study and typology to make a comparative analysis of the sports activities in the same type and different types of Yinshan rock paintings in different periods,and draws the following conclusions:First,yinshan horse riding rock paintings can confirm that the development and evolution of modern equestrian is the domestication of horses--learning to ride horses--the invention of harness--the emergence of horse racing--the evolution of modern equestrian;Yinshan bow and arrow rock paintings can prove that the development and evolution of modern archery is the invention of bow and arrow--learn archery--improve technology--the emergence of archery competition--the evolution of modern archery;Yinshan dance and acrobatic rock paintings can prove that the complex and difficult movements in dance and acrobatics are the foundation of the development of many sports such as modern gymnastics,wushu and ball games.The wrestling rock paintings of Yinshan mountain can prove that the development and evolution of Boke is based on the struggle between man and beast--military training to defend the country--popular sports.Yinshan checkerboard rock painting can prove that the development and evolution of deer chess is the crystallization of grazing and hunting life--court game--modern deer chess.These sports grew up in the constant changes of nomads in the northern grassland of China,penetrated through the whole life of the ancestors of Yinshan,and also radiated to the central Plains and neighboring countries.Their superb skills and wise strategies have an important impact on today’s sports competitions.Secondly,hunting culture,nomadic culture,tool culture,military sports culture and sacrificial culture are the most valuable spiritual crystallization of Chinese ethnic peoples,which promoted the development and evolution of the primitive sports forms in different stages in Yinshan area and spread sports skills.As a national soft power,it has the ability to flourish industries,activate diplomacy,and penetrate into all aspects of people’s lives.At present,there are two difficulties in the study of yinshan sports rock paintings: insufficient image data and unsatisfactory preservation.Therefore,the author thinks that the follow-up research should strengthen the exploration and protection of the sports rock paintings in the eastern part of the Yinshan Mountains.
