| With the rapid development of economic globalization,the importance of international trade to our national economy is increasing day by day,especially the industrial and technical products.There is no doubt that using advanced instruments requires detailed instructions.User manuals are a type of texts aimed to introduce the functions and operation of a product to the reader.This translation report is based on a project that the author was commissioned to do during the internship at SAICMOBILITY,with the aim of enabling the users of the instruments to operate the instruments correctly and safely.This report discusses the translation strategies with examples on three levels: lexical,syntactic and discourse.The main translation difficulties at lexical level discussed in this report include technical terms,specialization of common nouns,vocabularies of operational buttons and modal verbs;sentences of passive voice,imperative sentences and complex sentences at syntactic level;parallel structure of subheadings and diagrams at discourse level.The main translation strategies of vocabularies include free translation,mixed translation and direct translation;of sentences include sequential,reversing,additional translation and omission translation;of discourse mainly consider the consistency of structure and the interaction of graphs and texts,including direct translation and zero translation.Through this report,the author aims to provide some references for the translation of other scientific and technical texts. |
