Abstract/Summary:
Shakespeare’s works serve as the gems in the literary world and a must for all learners and scholars of literature.Among the existing translated texts of Shakespeare in China,most are the translated plays or other literary works but few are translated research monographs of the background information of Shakespeare’s works.This paper will take the translation of the introduction to and annotation of Romeo and Juliet of the Oxford Shakespeare series as an example from the perspective of project management,and discuss and analyze the translation management strategies and ideas required for the operation of a translation project team for such types of works.Based on the introduction to and annotation of Romeo and Juliet of the Oxford Shakespeare series,the report introduces the specific management processes and management approaches of the project,summarizes the difficulties encountered in project advancement and translation practice experiences,and elaborates on the importance of translation project management in translation work.This report mainly includes four chapters: project introduction,translation project management,difficulty analysis and solution,and project summary.Chapter One gives a general overview of the translation project of Romeo and Juliet,one of the Oxford Shakespeare series,including the background of the project,descriptions of content and significance of the project;Chapter Two firstly aims to introduce the division of responsibilities among the project members,describing the respective accountabilities of the project manager,translator,and reviser in the project;secondly,it points out the application of translation technology in project management,i.e.the importance of productivity tools in improving the efficiency of translation;Chapter Three discusses the difficulties encountered in the translation process and project management with the corresponding solutions.Chapter Four reviews and summarizes the approaches to project management covered in this paper,with a view to providing reference and ideas for other translation project groups and managers.
