The English teaching in junior high schools has a wide coverage and a profound impact on students’ English learning.However,there are some problems in oral English teaching at this time,such as emphasizing on ‘teaching’ rather than‘learning’,limited teaching resources and single teaching type,lacking of timely feedback and effective guidance on students’ oral performance and so on.Therefore,the traditional teaching mode can’t meet the diversified learning needs of students.The Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards(2022 edition)requires teachers to use teaching resources and online teaching technologies rationally to improve students’ learning efficiency.Therefore,according to Input Hypothesis Theory,Output Hypothesis Theory and Emotion Filtering Theory,this study applied Ekwing App,which has been highly evaluated in recent years,into the oral English teaching of junior high schools,and explored its effectiveness of the oral English learning.This study aims to answer following three questions:1.What is the effect of using Ekwing App to assist oral English teaching to improve students’ oral English proficiency?2.What are the attitudes of teachers and students towards the use of the oral English teaching mode assisted by the Ekwing App?3.What are the problems in using App-assisted oral language teaching?From September 2021 to December 2021,the author took 49 students from Class20,49 students from Class 21 and 5 English teachers in Grade 2 of Zhucheng Junior Middle School as the research participants.The author designed a corresponding oral language teaching plan,and carried out a 16-week teaching practice.At the beginning of the practice,the author used questionnaires and interviews to know about the current situation of oral English teaching and learning in junior high schools.At the same time,the pre-test was conducted through the oral test system of Ekwing App.After that,the author used the Ekwing App in class and after class to carry out teaching practice.Finally,the author analyzed the data according to the oral test scores,questionnaire survey and interview results.Above all,the study found that the application of Ekwing App to junior high school oral English teaching can effectively improve oral level.Secondly,the study also found that teachers and students can generally accept the oral language teaching mode assisted by Ekwing App and they think that this teaching mode is very helpful for their oral English level improvement.Finally,for the problems existing in the oral English teaching assisted by Ekwing App,the author proposed some solutions.According to research results,the author put forward some suggestions from three aspects: teachers’ teaching,students’ learning and the design of Ekwing App itself.In the end,the limitations of this study are pointed out.Accordingly,the suggestions for the future research are also offered as well. |
