Looking back at the development of more than 20 years,the new form of literature formed by relying on the Internet,that is,network literature has become a beautiful color in the contemporary literary world,bringing a different reading experience to readers around the world.Nowadays,network literature is not only flourishing in China,but also widely welcomed overseas,and the road of Chinese network literature to the sea is getting brighter and brighter.As one of the representative works of overseas dissemination,To the Sky Kingdom has been warmly sought after overseas due to the popularity of its subject matter and the high appeal of its film and television versions,and has become an excellent representative of the overseas dissemination of Chinese network literature.However,the road of overseas dissemination of Chinese network literature should not only stay at the primary stage of going out,but should really enter and integrate into overseas markets and enter a new era of overseas dissemination.As a representative work of Chinese network literature,the study of the overseas dissemination effect of To the Sky Kingdom is useful for telling Chinese stories and spreading excellent Chinese culture.Based on the theories of "high and low contextual culture theory" and "uses and gratifications approach",this thesis analyzes data mainly from Amazon,Google Trends,Twitter and instagram and uses four research methods:comparative analysis,content analysis,data analysis and documentary analysis,to analyze the characteristics and effects of the overseas distribution of To the Sky Kingdom.First,the characteristics of the overseas dissemination of To the Sky Kingdom are explored from the four perspectives of overseas dissemination: subject,content,channel and audience.Second,the data and contents on Amazon,Google Trends,Twitter and instagram are crawled and analyzed from three levels: cognitive,emotional and behavioral aspects of overseas readers,so as to explore the attention,demand,discussion,evaluation and behavior of overseas readers on To the Sky Kingdom.The data was analyzed by using the word frequency analysis software,which reveals that overseas readers choose To the Sky Kingdom for four major reasons: to understand the movie and drama,to expand their reading scope,to understand Chinese culture,and to give gifts.Overseas readers are very positive about it,but readers pay less attention to and discuss To the Sky Kingdom.Finally,by analyzing the characteristics and effects of the overseas dissemination of To the Sky Kingdom,this thesis concludes that the problems of poor translation quality and single mode of promotion exist in its overseas dissemination,and put forward certain suggestions for improvement in response to these problems.
