Research On Visual Metaphor Performance In Graphic Design

The continuous extension of the application field of metaphor has brought innovative thinking and Enlightenment to the research in more fields.Inspired by metaphorical thinking and cognitive style,graphic design innovates design ideas and develops composition forms.Metaphor has great advantages in simplicity,novelty,richness,innovation and so on.With the embellishment of metaphor,graphics show a new look of novel form and rich connotation,and the way of transmitting information has become more implicit and meaningful.The application of visual metaphor in graphic design has four different categories: formal metaphor,material metaphor,Emotional Metaphor and enlightening metaphor.According to the case analysis of different metaphor application categories,it is concluded that metaphor has the application value of promoting information dissemination and exchange,promoting cultural inheritance,enriching artistic aesthetics,innovating design thinking and artistic form in graphic design,and then summarizes that metaphor plays an important role in graphic design.
