A Report On Simulated Chinese-English Consecutive Interpreting Of 2020 Alipay Partner Conference

In 2020,a sudden epidemic hit a large number of small and medium-sized merchants hard,and offline merchants were struggling to operate.In order to reduce economic losses,Alipay held Alipay Partner Conference 2020 to advance the digital transformation of merchants.This practice report was conducted in the form of a simulated consecutive interpreting with the conference as an example guided by the Interpretive Theory.During the practice,theory and practice were combined.The interpreter encountered some difficulties and problems,such as listening comprehension difficulties,short-term memory limitations,and insufficient vocabulary reserves.And the conference was very long and the speakers talked in a colloquial way,which were also difficulties.The principles of comprehension,deverbalization and re-expression were followed under the guidance of Interpretive Theory,and strategies such as amplification,omission,restructuring and conversion were used to convey the information of the source language based on the characteristics of the material to ensure the smooth interpreting of this practice.After finishing this simulated practice of consecutive interpreting,the interpreter did gain valuable experience,especially in business conferences.At the same time,it is hoped that it will be helpful for other interpreters who will interpret in related fields in the future.
