The material of this translation practice report is selected from a children’s literature work Gone to the Woods-Surviving a Lost Childhood published by an American author Gary Paulsen in 2021.This book is a vivid memoir of literary legend,which mainly records a series of important life experiences in the author’s turbulent childhood.Guided by Adaptation Theory,this translation practice report selects words and sentence patterns acceptable to children readers for translation,and demonstrates the guiding significance of Adaptation Theory to children’s literature translation from a practical perspective.This translation practice report includes five parts.The first part elaborates the translation task,which mainly includes the original text,the author and the significance of this translation practice.The second part expounds the translation process,including pre-translation preparation activities,in-translation processing and post-translation revision.The third part is an overview of translation theory,explaining the adaptation theory and its adaptation guidance to children’s literature translation.Guided by Adaptation Theory,the fourth part focuses on case analysis from the aspects of pronunciation,vocabulary,syntax,context and so on.The fifth part is a summary of this translation practice. |
